The Good Guys is a chain of consumer electronics retail stores in Australia and New Zealand. It is based in the Melbourne suburb of Airport West, Victoria. It was founded by Ian Muir, and the Muir family continues to own the chain. [1]
The Good Guys began retailing in electrical goods in Victoria in 1952. Initial growth was slow, with 14 stores across the state in 1992. A strong advertising campaign in 1998, which resulted in strong sales, also led to a rapid expansion of stores across the country. By 2009, the chain had grown to 89 stores across Australia, including several stores now in New Zealand.
Television commercials for The Good Guys notably feature the song Good Vibrations, by The Beach Boys, with altered lyrics.
